If you’ve been on this planet for a while, you know that every now and then it’s a good idea to take stock of your life. A good place to start is to consider on the physical, mental, and spiritual planes, where you’re not quite satisfied.
Is more cardio needed to increase your endurance? Do you have secret resentments or are there amends you need to make so you can finally move on!? Have you been putting off meditation, afraid that you might actually feel better about yourself (yes, better)?
In this recent Men’s Fitness post, Christine Richmond outlines 12 powerful steps to power clean and de-clutter your life. Top on the mind cleaning list? You guessed it, a meditation practice.
. . . your mind
- Unplug for 10 to 15 minutes daily. “Schedule a bit of time for peace of mind. You’ll be more grounded, and you’ll have a stronger sense of purpose,” Walsh says. Practice tai chi or meditation. Or simply turn off the radio and phone when you’re in the car and use that time to decompress and reflect.
- Stop multitasking. “In life, we’re encouraged to juggle multiple tasks at once, but ultimately that just dilutes your attention,” says Walsh. Instead? Be where you are. “If you’re working out, be there. If you’re on the phone, be there. If you’re at dinner with a girlfriend, be there. It’s the single biggest tip for creating a balanced and focused life.”
