Have you ever noticed that when you put on a particular outfit your mood can suddenly change? What about when you eat a particular food or walk into a room? Apart from the fact that wearing the latest style can make you feel special or that certain foods and rooms hold their own individual energies, studies show that colors can have both a positive and negative affect on a person’s overall health and well being.
In this Hindustan Times post from Dr Shikha Sharma, the topic of chromatherapy or color therapy is explained. According to Sharma, colors influence our chakras which in turn can effect our moods and emotions. Because colors influence our body’s energy system, it is important to get a grasp on how colors affect you.
Using colors that correspond to each of the seven chakras, Sharma incorporates the foods we eat (and their colors) and argues that for the chakras to function optimally, we must eat foods that promote balance.
Every colour influences a particular chakra or body energy system, and food colour is the simplest and quickest way to identify necessary foods for the body. Colours also influence emotions. For instance, people who often feel drained and tired are advised exposure to more yellows and reds. People who are always on the edge need to get more blues and greens.
