Let’s face it. We live in a world where some feelings are tolerated more than others. That said, anger is one of those emotions that many people do not like to feel much less be the object when someone else’s anger is directed outward. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending upon your perspective, anger is a feeling that comes with being human. The trick is not to wish it away. Rather, to use practices like meditation to learn how to work through the feeling to allow another emotion to arise.
A post from Meditation Oasis reminds us that while not pleasant, anger can actually be useful (what other feeling gives a human more motivation than anger?). Moreover, that anger just like any other feeling is just energy…and energy flows best when not blocked.
Like every emotion anger is a natural flow of life energy. When allowed to flow freely, it passes through us. All too often, however, anger gets suppressed and doesn’t get released. That energy will then express itself in other ways, or lead to chronically tight muscles and other problems. What you resist persists, andsuppressing anger actually keeps it around.
